Company: Service King

Service King has identified two potential areas for growth:
(a) Service line expansion
(b) geographical expansion
The adoption of these will not be done concurrently due to the resource and input requirements that each will require. Service King will focus on one at a time so as to increase the likelihood of success.
Because geographic expansion is more complex and difficult Service King will focus on service line expansion and limit this expansion to the Auckland area.
In order to ensure that the same quality management and control that exists with the current cleaning services is maintained during/after the expansion, Service King will be hiring what they call a ‘Local Host’. The local host is Service King’s term for a customer service manager.
Initially, there will be 4 local hosts for Auckland with more being brought on depending on demand generated by the service line expansion.
Points to be considered –
How the company will be structured and how will it operate – level of responsibility etc. With a proposed scaling up of the business, what planning should be in place to enable the development to be implemented successfully.
Will customer service managers be responsible for all aspects of customer service/support in their designated zone.
Service line expansion – which services will be introduced and how well will they align with current strengths. Service King is uncertain which services to add first.
Service Line focus will be on the consumer market rather than the corporate market.
Geographical expansion will always be accompanied by a customer service manager for each new region.

(Assignment 3: Project Part 2 100 Marks)

This is a project the focus of which will be on your major study area, marketing as you will be developing the strategy (and tactics) for your particular function to meet the requirements of the company strategy.

The strategy you will be working on will be the one identified by the lecturers from Project Part 1 and will be the strategy all students will adopt for Project Part 2.
Requirements of your report to the company are:

1. Discuss changes that may be necessary to the structure of the company.

2. Provide the strategy, and tactics, of your functional area to fulfil the requirements of the company strategy.

3. Discuss changes that may need to be made to the management of your functional area (Marketing). Consideration must also be given to the other functional areas (all functions of a company must mesh together) to fit with the company’s strategic plan.

4. Provide a plan for the implementation of changes that may be necessary in your functional area with regard to resources, skills, and personnel, and provide an overview of costs.
