Find three different life stage news articles and reflect on the social circumstances/issues that might influence the individual’s development.

Use the relevant chapter(s) in Claiborne and Drewery (2013) to summarise this reflection.

Following is an example of how you might go about this task:

e.g. “Leader 12/05/2015”: Doctors told the parents of Jake French, a Year 1 student at Bimbadeen Heights Primary School, early this year that their son had “inoperable and incurable” cancer.

10/05/2015 :CHILDCARE is booming in Bayside, with another new centre being given the green light by the council last night.An application to build a 112-place private centre in Centre Rd, Brighton East, was approved unanimously by councillors.

12/05/2015:VICTORIA’S biggest gymnastics club is bursting at the seams and needs a $5.75 million upgrade to accommodate hundreds of children on its wait list.And today, the Leader launches a campaign to help the Waverley Gymnastics Centre in Mt Waverley secure money from the State Government and Monash Council.About 1500 members attend the centre at least once a week and there are more than 550 people on the waiting list.

e.g. The articles that I have read raise questions for me about young people’s physical development and the influences of sickness and community resources on this development. All three articles highlighted how money is crucial if we are to help young people reach their milestones. In early childhood this was a child care centre providing educational activities, in young people by providing the necessary medical equipment to assist the treatment of illness and also providing opportunities to develop physical strength.

All these resources are needed if developmental milestones are to be reached.

Clarification on assessment 1. : Source three news articles about three different life stages, for example infancy, adolescence and aged from local of state wide newspapers or a single newspaper that has all three articles. Please make sure the articles are within the last five years. Reference the article with details of the newspaper, date, title and a brief outline of the story, as shown on the discussion board example. Your discussion needs to draw on the relevant chapters from the text book Human Development in Society: Family, Place and Culture and any of the other readings listed in the course guide. You may wish to divide the 600 word total into three lots of 200 words.
